Trends in wealth inequality, wealth accumulation and household wealth composition in the EU

The project examines wealth dynamics, composition, and inequality in European countries from 2010 to 2022, with a particular focus on developments during the pandemic. In this joint project, the Budapest Institute and Bruegel conduct an in-depth analysis of the ECB Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS), covering 22 EU countries. The research also includes a detailed examination of savings, housing wealth, and the middle class, supported by background studies and a comprehensive literature review.

Project details

The project is being implemented by the Budapest Institute for Policy Analysis in collaboration with Bruegel, a Brussels-based think-thank, under the framework of a Eurofound a tender.
