Rethinking support for those furthest from the labour marketIn line with the implementation of the Pillar of Social Rights, and EU President von der Leyen’s call for ‘more investment in people and their skills’ the EU PES Network’s Stakeholder Conference, held on the 5th of November 2024 in Brussels focused on new initiatives for the inclusion of those furthest from the labour market. As pointed out by Márton Csillag’s scene-setting presentation, addressing disparities in the labour market is vital to circumvent accelerating skills and labour shortages. The conference included collaborative workshops on the support for specific groups: persons with disabilities; women in a vulnerable situation and caregivers; NEETs; older workers. Paricipants also addressed overarching topics: outreach and support; lifelong career guidance; evidence-based service design; co-operation with PrES. The material of the Conference can be found here. | |
