Designing the blueprint for the social service strategy of a Budapest district

Commissioned by the local government of the 7^th district of Budapest, BI prepared a background report and recommendations for the district’s social service development strategy.

The report defines the objectives of social services and provides an overview of the evolution of social needs in district. It proposing directions for the development of services to tackle key challenges for the period up to 2028.

Beyond addressing immediate problems, two core principles were prioritised:

• preventing personal crisis situations, poverty and social exclusion, and

• providing perspective by supporting individuals in overcoming difficult life situations.

One of our proposals was a “dashboard” based on data and indicators to support decision makers, with the goal of improving service management efficiency, improving outreach efforts to those in need, and responding to emerging needs (such as preventing school dropout, establishing a crisis centre, enhancing the targeting of municipal social housing, supporting end-of-life services, and promoting adult education).

BI was commissioned by the local government of the 7th district of Budapest to develop the blueprint for the five-year social service strategy of Erzsébetváros.
