Analysis of the economic benefits of the rule of law and good governance in the CEE region

To inform the work of the Center for International Private Enterprise’s (CIPE) partners in Hungary, as well as in the broader region, on gaining private sector support for local civil society, Budapest Institute conducted a literature review regarding the macroeconomic benefits of the rule of law and good governance in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The report includes a review and analysis of the existing literature on this subject, including empirical data on the positive effects that enhanced rule of law can have on the private sector in CEE.

We also produced a report on assessing the perceptions of supporting local civil society by the private sector in Hungary, including the perceived benefits and impacts of such support. We collaborated with the Aware Entrepreneur initiative run by the Bridge Budapest while using participatory research methods during the working sessions organised for Hungarian business representatives.
