Cost estimates of expanding basic social services

The Budapest Institute was commissioned by the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union to prepare a study on the costs and returns of basic social services. The study shows what kind of financial resources are needed to build and operate a high quality, accessible, integrated basic social service package (personal assistance / transport / delivery, day care). It summarizes how much more should be spent on basic social services in an annual state budget in order to reach an ideal quality of basic social services, also taking into account the fact that thanks to the accessible and well-functioning services, some of those who currently take care of their family members in full time could return to the labor market.
