Senior researchers Ágota Scharle and Balázs Váradi – along with János Köllő, Anna Lovász and Eszter Neumann – held a seminar in April 2013 at Transituation - Spring Seminar on the Effects of Post-Socialist Transition in Eastern European Countries, an international workshop organized by Széchenyi István College for Advanced Studies. The seminar ’Characteristics and Challenges of the Labor Market in Central and Eastern Europe’ focussed on the structural problems of post socialist labour markets in EU member states. Some of these were discussed in more detail: the skills mismatch and the low employment rate of unskilled workers, the low employment rate of mothers with children. One section was devoted to the deficiencies of the policy making process.
