How to help young people in becoming entrepreneurs?

11/10/2022

Complex and personalised support is particularly important for young people. Training can mitigate the disadvantages of lack of education and experience, but needs to be complemented with mentoring and the development of soft skills.

On October 11 2022 Organizatia Institutul Bucovina organized a webinar under the series ”Let’s NEET together!”. The goal of the online event was to share innovative approaches on supporting the inclusion of the NEETs on the labor market, within the 058 - SEPAL Project (Supporting Employment Platform through Apprenticeship Learning).

Petra Reszkető, senior researcher at the Budapest Institute, gave a guest lecture on international good practices in promoting youth entrepreneurship. While capital grants can help with start-up costs, in the absence of individual/family savings, it may also be worthwhile to alleviate the financial difficulties of the initial period with temporary financial support/welfare bridges. Moreover, it is also important to complement any formal training by providing mentoring and developing soft skills (e.g. inter-personal communication, negotiation techniques, problem solving, time management, teamwork).
